    2015 International Graphene Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition Completed Successfully


    2015 China International Graphene Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition was successfully held in Qingdao on Oct 28 and the championship has been chosen from 16 excellent projects, with the remarking on the well-known mentors and the supporting of many industry professionals. Nobel laureates Andre Geim, the father of graphene, personally awarded prize, which also became a bright spot.

    Earlier, the competition has been held in Changzhou and Wuxi, respectively with 16 excellent projects emerging from more than 200 outstanding global projects. They contested again at the final stage in Qingdao, showing in the field of new technology and materials. The 16 excellent projects, including the preparation of graphene, the wearable device, military functional materials, functional graphene membranes for water purification, environmental protection, touch screen, anti-corrosion coatings and other areas of application, showed the wide coverage and high practical value.

    After a fierce competition, China-Australia cooperation project - Functional Graphene Membranes for Water Purification won the championship. This project, joint developed by the team of Prof. Hongwei Zhu from Tsinghua University and the team of Prof. Dusan Losic from the University of Adelaide, would become the lead of graphene membrane application in the field of water purification. It will play an important role in the sewage disposal and water crisis.

    The first Graphene Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition has far-reaching influence to the development of industrialization of graphene. The organizer, China innovation Alliance of the Graphene, aims to promote industrialization of graphene project progress and will strengthen the emerging industry innovation atmosphere.
